Author's Tools

IEEE Tools for Authors offers a reference validation tool to check format and completeness of references It also offers a tool to check graphics. Use of these tools simplify the copy-editing process which in turn reflects into a faster time-to-publication. Detailed instructions on how to prepare multimedia files are also found on this webpage. IEEE also offers professional editing services to refine the use of English in the manuscripts. Use of this service is not linked to the submission process.

Associate Editors and their area of expertise
Authors are encouraged to suggest an Associate Editor to handle the review process that best identifies the topic of their paper. The Editor in Chief will consider this suggestion, however, she reserves the option to use other AEs based on their loads. Associate editors and their area of expertise

Suggesting reviewers
The Manuscript Central submission Portal offers authors opportunities to suggest potential reviewers for their manuscript.

Guide to the Review Process
Following IEEE requirements, a minimum of two reviewers are assigned to each paper. At the time of making a recommendation, the Associate Editor (AE) submits to the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) the reviewers comments and her/his decision. The outcome of the review process falls within three categories: ACCEPT, MINOR REVISIONS, REJECT. In the case the paper is accepted with minor revisions, authors will have up to one week to return the revised manuscript. Manuscripts that are returned beyond this cut off date will receive a new submission date. The AE checks the final version of the paper and makes final recommendation to the EIC. Accepted papers are sent to IEEE Production who will process the paper within 10 days. At the end of this process, the article receives a Digital Object Identifier and is posted on the Xplore Homepage under “Forthcoming Publications” Appeals to the AE or EIC are made through the “appeal tool” available in Manuscript Central by sending a letter with a rebuttal of the reviewers comments.

Principles of Scholarly Publishing
Publishing within IEEE is governed by Principles of Scholarly publishing developed in 2007 and found at http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/rights/PublishingPrinciples.html
